Training as a chef

Your start into German culinary culture. We pave the way for a future full of flavour.

Becoming a chef in Germany:

As a chef, you work with fresh ingredients every day, develop dishes, and ensure that guests enjoy a genuine culinary experience. You become part of a professional kitchen team, take responsibility for quality, taste, and hygiene, and open up a wide range of career opportunities – from restaurants and hotels to communal catering and international gastronomy.

What does the training involve?

During the three-year training programme, you combine craftsmanship with creativity: you learn how to handle ingredients, apply various cooking techniques, plan menus and workflows, and gain knowledge of products and hygiene standards. At vocational school, you acquire the theoretical foundations, while in the workplace you learn step by step
how a professional kitchen operates and how to prepare
sophisticated dishes together as a team.

Entry requirements

A school-leaving certificate is usually sufficient – but even more important are motivation, reliability, and a genuine interest in gastronomy and food. You should enjoy hands‑on work, be able to cope well under pressure, and like working as part of a team. Prior experience is not mandatory; what truly matters is your willingness to learn and develop further.
